Juliette Belmonte is a mixed-media fine artist who studied painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and The Art Students League of New York. When explaining her work, she says she has recently been scouring vintage photographs especially of the Victorian and Edwardian Era, looking for an expression or look that she feels transcends time. Occasionally there is something she instantly recognize in a face as familiar and that will become her subject. It appeals to her that though this person is long gone, the story that is captured in their expression remains. She often incorporates mixed media into her oil paintings such as fabrics, found objects, gold leaf, collage papers and organic elements.
