Jen Starwalt has always been artistic and felt a deep connection to nature in which she expresses through her signature large-scale wildlife portraits using detailed layers of highly pigmented color. A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Jen studied illustration which she believes helped her identify and cultivate her unique style. The vivid interweaving of colors that defines her style has lead to Jen being published in several art magazines, represented by galleries across the USA as well as an annual exhibitor at one of the nation's largest wildlife art events. She first blocks out all major shapes of light and shadow, then builds up layer upon layer of color to achieve her final painting, adding small strokes of opposing colors till the vibrant pigments dance across the canvas. Jen hopes that, through her art, people will gain a greater appreciation for wildlife and be inspired to reconnect with nature and all its beauty. “We are all connected on this one earth we share,” she says. “I hope when you look into each portrait that you feel it too."
