Artists to Know: 10 Female Artists to Support Today

Since 2018, we’ve been proudly supporting the National Museum of Women in the Arts’ initiative to increase representation and awareness of female artists. To further help their year-long #5WomenArtists campaign, we’re keeping the conversation going by once again featuring 50 women artists throughout Women’s History Month. We hope you’ll discover a new favorite female creator (or five).

From melancholic thinkers to lighthearted dreamers, these 10 female artists strive to reveal both passionately powerful and delightfully bright feelings through their artwork. With a mix of simple depictions and detailed displays, they showcase a spectrum of emotional depth, feminine energy, and explorative adventures.

Whether you enjoy high-end fashion, travel photography, surreal scenes, or motivational energy, the work from these 10 women artists ranges from seriously stylish to interestingly introspective. Keep scrolling to meet just a few of the many female artists we’re proud to partner with.

1. Laura H. Rubin

Based in Switzerland, Laura H. Rubin creates digital portraits of dark and compelling women with subtle morose expressions, often staring directly at the viewer. To represent a melancholic state of mind, she includes feathers in a lot of her pieces, claiming they “symbolize the dissolution of the human being, because already in the Middle Ages black birds or ravens were considered as harbingers of disaster and death”. From unmasked feelings to broken bodies to floral loneliness, her artwork is a unique way to bring emotional depth and surrealism vibes into your space.

2. Doodle by Meg

Based in Oklahoma City, Doodle by Meg’s digital art of motivational typography, funky motifs, and females feature a range of vibrant colors and optimistic energy. As a lover of “rainbows, vintage aesthetic, and positive vibes”, she creates pieces heavily inspired by the ‘70s, astrological signs, and psychedelic symbols. From cactus tarot cards to cosmic cowgirls to imaginative zodiac illustrations, her art can help you design a groovy, feel-good atmosphere.

4. Destiny Darcel

Based in Miami, Destiny Darcel creates digital faceless paintings of Black women showcasing beauty, confidence, and self-care. Motivated by the lack of representation in art, she wants Black women to see “the happy versions, the fly versions, and the carefree versions” of themselves. With such strong depictions of Black females, she was asked to create an illustration for one of Old Navy’s 2022 Black History Month t-shirts. From joyful mothers to stylish afro queens to Beyoncé-inspired displays, her artwork can help bring empowering and uplifting energy to your space.

5. Anikó Salamon

Based in Budapest, Anikó Salamon’s abstract impressionist paintings feature women as the main subject, showcasing an authentic range of human feelings. Her use of soft brush strokes, scenes of human connection, and displays of nude vulnerability give off powerful feminine energy. From a daydreaming female looking out the window to a lonesome lady sitting on a curb to a faceless girl underneath sad trees, we think her artwork can help you create an emotional and thought-provoking atmosphere.

A self-taught photographer from the Greater Boston Area, Karen Jerzyk shoots captivating portraits of astronauts in elaborate scenes, often in abandoned buildings. She mixes her passion for sci-fi into each piece with combinations of the future and past – an aesthetic many have coined as “future-past”.
