Jerusalem, April 9th 1839, plate 16 from Volume I of 'The Holy Land' pub. 1842 - Canvas Print

This panoramic view of Jerusalem stretches across sun-warmed hills, the walled city and Dome of the Rock rising in the distance beneath a pale, open sky. Painted in soft beige, olive, and sandy ochre tones, with touches of crimson and indigo on the robes of travelers resting among stone ruins below, the scene carries the quiet, antiquarian feel of a 19th century expedition sketch. Jerusalem, April 9th 1839 brings a sense of history and place to a room, making it a fitting choice of wall art for a study, library, or formal living space.
