Dane Khy: Minimalist Line Drawings

iCanvas is excited to offer prints by Dane Khy, whose portfolio of minimalist line drawings celebrates animals, the human form, and the moving bond between both.

Without lifting his pen, Dane illustrates the sense of harmony and connectedness between species and environments. Embracing the line art trend, he uses continuous line drawings to create minimalist subjects often symbolically merging with others.

A graphic designer for several years, it wasn’t until the passing of his first dog, Riley, that Dane began creating line art to cope with his loss. His artistic exploration combined with volunteering at a local animal shelter led him to broaden his subjects to include the other dogs, not to mention cats and horses, he would observe during his time there. “I was working out ways to use the technique to help convey some sort of emotion.”

Dane’s contrast between complexity and simplicity is what makes his art appealing to animal lovers everywhere. “I’m fascinated by the power of empathy and how much we can discover about ourselves by discovering the lives of others.” Now a full-time artist, Dane conveys the bond between humans, animals and nature on a regular basis while continuing to support animal shelters and charities in his home of Columbus, OH.
