Artists to Know: 10 Female Artists to Explore

Since 2018, we’ve been proudly supporting the National Museum of Women in the Arts’ initiative to increase representation and awareness of female artists. To further help their year-long #5WomenArtists campaign, we’re keeping the conversation going by once again featuring 50 women artists throughout Women’s History Month. We hope you’ll discover a new favorite female creator (or five).

From imaginative daydreamers to women empowerers, these 10 female artists strive to give off feelings of introspection, femininity, playfulness, and more through their work. With subjects ranging from body positivity to book readers to dotted geometric designs, these creators bring in a vast array of styles.

1. Fiona Francois

Based in Tasmania, Australia, Fiona Francois creates charcoal and pencil art of powerful women, often showcasing them with environmental elements, along with a mix of zodiac themes. A lot of her work features weathered trees to represent the raw beauty of ourselves and the world. She claims, “we often forget our connection to nature but I am reminded of our shared vulnerability to the ravages of time, weathering and the elements.” From driftwood souls to autumn fairies to forests of the damned, her artwork can give you a captivating way to add dramatic and thought-provoking vibes to your space.

2. Danica Gim

Inspired by European influences, self-taught artist Danica Gim creates digital and watercolor art of faceless females combined with inspirational phrases. Her prints include a range of body types and nude figures to depict the beautiful diversity of women. She also often incorporates celestial elements and uplifting themes, saying, “I have a love for mythology, all that is dreamy, the moon and making people feel like they found a little bit of magic”. 3. Ievgeniia Bidiuk

Ukrainian artist Ievgeniia Bidiuk creates digital art and photography of colorful city views, vibrant landscapes, and other stunning outdoor scenes. In addition to beautiful scenery, she also designs surreal portraits and imaginative displays. With natural beauty and touches of mystifying excitement, her work is full of energizing hues. 4. Nakisha VanderHoeven

5. Olga Crée
