Curations We Love

Art Prints Celebrating Juneteenth

The fight for racial equality has come a long way, and we believe it’s important to always stand up for what’s right. To honor and celebrate Black freedom, along with the on-going battle for justice, we pulled together a curation of art inspired by Juneteenth. We hope this selection of prints can inspire, empower, or bring a touch of uplifting energy to your space.

While the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 was the first step in freeing slaves, it wasn’t until June 19th, 1865 that slavery ended across the nation. These evil acts officially stopped in Texas on the day known as Juneteenth, when the last “enslaved black people in the state were free by executive decree”. Since then, our country has only increased its celebrations for this, our “second independence day”

Celebrations for Juneteenth eventually took off with large marches, parades, and more in big cities and areas around the country. Today, you’ll still see many traditional Juneteenth celebrations like rodeos, fishing, barbecuing, prayer services, and speaker series. While these events help us remember the joy of African American freedom, Juneteenth also calls for reflection and action on any injustice that’s yet to be resolved.

To honor this important holiday, our curation is filled with art showcasing strong emotions, uplifting displays, and community togetherness. From deep messages of bleeding flags to cheerful Central Park marches to the everyday beauty of Black motherhood, this collection gives off feelings of strength, courage, and liberation. Whether it’s reflecting on the devastating birth of a nation in chains, the joyful innocence of Black children playing in the street, or a declarative fist in the air to encourage voting, these prints are inspirational and powerful.

No matter if you want to find hope, peace, or determination, this collection of art can be an everyday reminder of how far our nation has come, and how far we still have to go. Keep scrolling to find a Juneteenth inspired print that you connect with.
