4 Artists Living in Los Angeles

These four artists living in Los Angeles create art in four different ways. Given their unique life experiences and artistic journeys, we’d expect nothing less! From serene and refreshing to dramatic and intimate, we’re looking at how these artists are influenced, or not, by residing in the City of Angels.

With such beautiful beaches, glamorous celebrities, and an exciting film industry, Los Angeles is the biggest city in California. It makes sense that artists calling this bustling place home would be inspired by their environment. While we often see Los Angeles artwork highlighting the famous Hollywood sign or views of Venice Beach, artists can find inspiration in a variety of places. Sometimes, where you’re from drives what you create, but that’s not always the case.

From the human form to botanical animals, the work from these artists can bring blossoming playfulness, pop culture energy, and more types of vibes to your space. Whether you prefer black and white photography or delicate watercolors, keep scrolling to find a new favorite artist.

1. Luisa Millicent

Inspired by the daily scenic walks in the Santa Monica mountains, Luisa Millicent’s watercolors feature landscapes and the outdoors. Focusing on the surroundings in Los Angeles, she depicts magnificent mountainscapes, reflective lakes, and blooming trees around the area. By revealing the natural beauty of LA, she gives us a new perspective of the typically Hollywood-focused place.

From a dockside view of Malibou Lake to seed heads on Topanga skyline, we think her artwork can be a wonderful way to add serene yet refreshing energy to your space.

2. Gregory Prescott

Bringing in more diversity in his artwork as part of a media movement for representation, Gregory Prescott’s photographs feature the male and female face and form. Often placing Los Angeles beaches, pools, and sandy settings in the background of his subjects, he reveals the connection between the beauty of earth and the natural human body. With mostly black and white creations, he pulls us into captivating moments.

From a man posing in the Malibu water to a nude woman in front of sandhills, we think his artwork can be an interesting way to bring a dose of dramatic intimacy to your space.

3. Mikey Camarda

Inspired by all things rap, hop-hop and R&B, Mikey Camarda’s digital art features surreal portraits of famous faces, including some available as Limited Editions. His creations of popular male musicians don’t directly reference Los Angeles, but once you realize where he’s from, you can pick up on the subtle LA influence. Ranging from legends in remembrance to current stars, we love the realistic and bold details he brings to every piece.

From Nipsey Hussle in a Puma jacket to a joyful Mac Miller, we think his artwork can be a great way to add energizing pop culture vibes to your space. Mike’s work was featured at the Mac Miller Circle album release event hosted by Warner Music Group and has been displayed in LA, NYC and more.
