The Vale Of St. John In Cumberland, 1786 - Canvas Print

Rolling hills, quiet stands of trees, and pale slate mountains stretch across this 18th-century valley view, rendered with the delicate line work and soft washes of early British landscape painting. Sage greens, warm ochre, and muted cream tones settle into a calm, pastoral scene that feels both historical and restful. Francis Towne's The Vale Of St. John In Cumberland brings a sense of quiet distance to a room, making it a natural fit as wall art above a reading chair or along a hallway where the eye can slowly travel across it.
