About the Artist
Oleksandr Balbyshev
Drawing inspiration from other artists, popular culture, social media, and everyday encounters, Oleksandr Balbyshev's art is deeply personal. His style branches into two directions: exploring male identity and homoeroticism through vivid, protest-like oil paintings, and reinterpreting USSR symbols to confront and transform historical trauma. His art, marked by powerful colors, mystical surrealist elements, and Dadaist absurdity, challenges outdated moralities and celebrates individuality.
