Artists to Know: 10 Female Artists to Keep Your Eye On

Since 2018, we’ve been proudly supporting the National Museum of Women in the Arts’ initiative to increase representation and awareness of female artists. To further help their year-long #5WomenArtists campaign, we’re keeping the conversation going by once again featuring 50 women artists throughout Women’s History Month. We hope you’ll discover a new favorite female creator (or five).

From the beauty of nature to the importance of mental health, these 10 female artists’ inspirations range from their everyday lives to imaginary worlds. Full of emotional vulnerability, lighthearted appeal, and otherworldly elements, these creators strive to spark introspection, joyful attitudes, and more.

1. Holly Simental

Based in Reno, Nevada, Holly Simental paints charming animals with realistic features combined with human-like expressions. While her prints are lighthearted and friendly, she adds a tiny detail aiming to reflect deeper meanings. “The true underlying message of my artwork can be found in the scripture verses which are by my signature in every art piece.” From lovely llamas with lattes to wise owls drinking tea to sledding wildlife pals, her artwork gives off sweet and endearing vibes.

2. Danielle English

Freelance illustrator Danielle English takes inspiration from the natural world to create digital fantasy and sci-fi artwork. She combines “realistic elements with a touch of character to real world animals” in her captivating scenes. Although she has a specific love for drawing dragons and space, she also conjures up other creatures with mystical and celestial twists. From majestic owls to mystifying cats to galactic foxes, her prints are full of otherworldly energy.

3. Michelle Green

Strong women role models are the main inspiration behind Michelle Green’s colorful creations. Featuring peaceful landscapes, colorful abstracts, and floral female portraits, she aims to create a safe space for conversations about mental health, women’s equality, and oppression. With a goal to tell a story through each print, she paints with “an intention to align with the divinity in all of us”. 4. Marischa Becker

Based in South Africa, Marischa Becker creates otherworldly digital art of movie characters, astronaut explorers, and other galactic scenes. She expresses a mix of messages through her pieces, claiming, “sometimes I have a colorful and light story to tell and other times I have deeper and darker stories I want to tell”. From a Tesla on another planet to bong smoking aliens to Buffy on patrol, her prints can help you bring astro and sci-fi vibes into your home.

5. Tiny Treasure Prints

8. Katie Bryant

9. Jessica Brilli

10. Femke Muntz
