Artists to Know: 10 Black Artists to Explore

In honor of Black History Month, we’re continuing to celebrate Black artists by featuring 10 more creators this week. iCanvas would be nothing without our diverse family of creators, and we’re proud to play a role in increasing representation of artists who are historically underrepresented across the industry. We hope you find a new favorite creator.

From the Bahamas to Germany, these 10 Black artists express meaningful messages and invigorating energy through their work. Bringing in themes like women empowerment, social justice, self-expression, and cultural energy, these creators aim to spark intrigue and connection.

1. Artpce

Based in Philadelphia, Artpce aims to celebrate and support Black people, culture, and Black-owned businesses through her artwork. Her digital art highlights themes such as happiness, self-appreciation, and social justice. From powerful messages to stylish confidence to pop culture icons, her prints provide empowering energy. Inspired to make a difference through her work, she has donated some of her proceeds to organizations like the After School Allstars to help support education for low-income children.

2. Ezra Tucker

As an American wildlife painter, Ezra Tucker showcases realistic animals in their natural habitats using his background knowledge of their anatomy. Through his fine art paintings, he strives to “present the beauty and majesty of the animal world in dynamic form to help influence the preservation of our planet’s varied species”. From stoic bucks to enthralling foxes to endearing deer families, his prints can help you bring the outdoors inside. 3. Nicole Collie

Nicole Collie’s abstract paintings feature portraits, the human body, and faceless female forms as a way to represent the importance of self-empowerment. With her powerful creations, she wants to shift the way women see themselves by “stripping away the criticism they are taught at an early age” and “filling them with pride in their strength and vulnerabilities”. 4. Jordan Best

Jordan Best illustrates iconic rappers and cartoon characters with a street style twist. Featuring clothes that he designed himself, along with fashion brands he collaborates with, the unique outfits are full of personality and flair. 5. Philece Roberts

Based in Nassau, Bahamas, Philece Roberts focuses on representing Black females in a graceful light through her mixed media prints. 6. Manue Adoude

Manue Adoude takes inspiration from her African heritage to create faceless portraits of women, men, and families. She incorporates elements of nature along with her distinctive line work technique to showcase the serene and playful beauty of Black people. From blooming motherhood to vibrant plants to liberating self-expression, her artwork radiates positive and spirited energy.

7. Nila Bah

Based in Hamburg, Germany, Nila Bah creates colorful ink paintings of Black women inspired by her culturally mixed heritage of German, Portuguese and African. She expresses her emotions through her powerful portraits in hopes that others will form deep connections with her art. From bright displays on white backgrounds to multicolored abstract creations to portraits full of mixed hues, her uplifting prints evoke feelings of hope and bravery.

8. Tysee Ciage

Tysee Ciage creates minimalist digital displays of stylish women, abstract shapes, and line art. Often featuring botanicals and earth tones, her prints mainly showcase Black females, touches of nature scenes, and powerful messages of women empowerment and self-love. 9. Ikahl Beckford

Ikahl Beckford creates colorful art inspired by his love for “humanity, music, and celebration”. Many of his energetic pieces are reflections of his life growing up in Jamaica. 10. Sheeba Maya

Inspired by spirituality and all things mystical, some of her prints contain elements of allure and entrancement.
