Raphael Painting Painter Biography

R aphael (1483-1520) was an Italian painter at the era of High Renaissance. His works have been regarded to be as great as that of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo during the time of Renaissance. Although he died at a young age of 37, he had produced many great paintings and art works in that short period of his life. His most famous work is The School of Athens in the Vatican Stanza della Segnatura. In addition to being a talented and influential painter, Raphael also had his hands into architecture. He was also named architect of the New St. Peter’s after Bramante’s death. However, his design did not last longer after his death which were either destroyed or demolished with the acceptance of Michelangelo’s design. Raphael died in a Good Friday which has been supposed to be his 37th birthday; he was also born on a Good Friday. Raphael is well-known for his balanced work of art. He carefully followed the techniques and the rules in his painting. He was an atheist and a ladies’ man, although he never married. Raphael did not live long to contribute more as an artist, however, the Renaissance era would have been complete without his contributions.
